I. What is Wordnet?
- Is a Semantic Network created in 1985 by George Millar and his team at Princeton University.
- In Berkeley DB format ( There are Xml and *RDF metadata format implementations of older versions. )
- Basic unit is a Synset
- WordNet's structure makes it a useful tool for computational linguistics and natural language processing.
- Other countries are creating wordnets in their own native languages. This includes the Eurowordnet (linked structure of European languages) and Wordnets in Indian and Asian languages. Eventually the wordnets of different languages will be combined.
